Some women can become more conscious of how their pubic area, or mons, appears through the clothing. This can cause women to seek treatment to reduce its size. Whether from a congenital cause or due to excessive weight gain, the pubic area can become fatty and make some women self-conscious and uncomfortable when wearing fitted clothing. Fortunately, it can be treated via liposuction to improve its shape and size.

Liposuction of the mons pubis is a straightforward procedure that can produce dramatic results. This procedure removes extra skin and excess fat, reducing the bulging area and providing a lift as well.

Female Surgeon options are available.

Why Mons Pubis Liposuction

Whether from a congenital cause or due to excessive weight gain, the pubic area can become fatty and makesome women self-conscious and uncomfortable when wearing fitted clothing. Liposuction of the mons pubis is a relatively straightforward procedure that can produce some dramatic results if you:

Feel fullness in the pubic region
Your pubic area projects out farther than your abdomen
You feel uncomfortable in tight clothing due to fullness in the pubic area

What is Mons Pubis Liposuction

Liposuction is a procedure that reshapes almost any area of the body by using various surgical methods to remove excess fat deposits. The procedure is much less invasive than other surgical contouring procedures, which makes it a popular choice for those looking to enhance their appearance with minimal scars.

During the procedure, your surgeon will make several small, inconspicuous incisions in the targeted areas. A diluted local anesthesia solution will then be infused in order to reduce the bleeding and control pain. A thin, hollow tube called a cannula is then inserted through the incisions to loosen the excess fat, which will then be aspirated from the body. The remaining fat cells are then equalized to create a smooth result and prevent irregularities.

For liposuction of the mons, the incisions are usually hidden in the groin crease. A small cannula is inserted into the incision, and fat is suctioned out. If needed, drains are placed in the incisions to help reduce swelling.

Are You a Candidate for Mons Pubis?

Unwanted fullness or protruding of the mons.
No significant skin laxity or drooping
Focal overhanging the mons area.
Excess skin of the mons.
Excess drooping of the mons.
For women and men who find the puffy, protruding mons area disconcerting, liposuction can be the procedure of choice. Good candidates for mons pubis reduction include patients who have:

You should also be in good health. The best way to determine if you are a candidate for mons pubis liposuction is to schedule a consultation.

An important factor in deciding whether liposuction of the mons is the right procedure for you is whether or not you have good skin elasticity, because liposuction of the mons pubis can make loose skin even looser once the fat is removed. Skin excess, overhang, and drooping of the mons require the removal of excess skin to lift the mons, and liposuction won’t be enough. In this case, a monsplasty, or pubic lift, is a better option. This procedure removes extra skin and excess fat, reducing the bulging area and providing a lift as well.

Recovery Process

Most patients return to work 2-3 days after the surgery. There will be some swelling, and the discomfort can generally be controlled by the pain medication prescribed by the SixSurgery team. Swelling usually improves over3 weeks, but it will take several months to completely resolve. You should avoid strenuous exercise or activity for 6weeks following your surgery.

Recovery Time of Mons Pubis Liposuction

Following your liposuction surgery, there will be swelling and bruising. You will have some discomfort, which can be controlled by the pain medication prescribed. This pain should subside within a few days.

Compression Garments
You may also be required to wear tight compression garments or elastic bandages for several weeks to help reduce swelling and to compress the skin to accentuate the new body contour.
Temporary Drains
Temporary drains may be placed beneath the skin to help remove any excess fluid or blood.
Swelling will be present, but it will begin to reduce in about 7 - 10 days. While the results of your liposuction procedure will be seen almost immediately, this swelling will distort the actual results. Swelling will continue to reduce, but some swelling may persist for 3-6 months. Your results are best appreciated at three months after surgery when most of the swelling has subsided.
Because the incisions made during liposuction are very small and discretely placed, scarring is minimal and generally fades over time.
Return to Work
Depending on the amount and the extent of liposuction you have, it is probable that you can return to work in 2-3 days. However, if more extensive liposuction is performed, you may want to take off one week from work.
Bruising and Discomfort
Discomfort and pain usually lasts for 1 - 3 days and can generally be controlled with prescribed pain medication. Most bruising and swelling will be present for 7 - 10 days and swelling will continue to subside over 3 - 6 months.
When can I Exercise?
Full activities, including exercise, can be resumed at 6 weeks following surgery.
